Know why this duo from Delhi relocated to Shimla to launch their Startup

We are all aware of the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Is it true in the current scenario? where apples are preserved until they lose their goodness and taste. Two biotech graduates from Delhi felt the same. So, they started a company to deliver the goodness of the fresh apples all around the country. Let's meet Deepak and Hemanth, the founders of Thiya.

These young entrepreneurs met while studying biotechnology in Delhi. After graduating, they decided to pursue their master's at Himachal Pradesh University. It was at this time that they first tasted the delicious apples grown in the region. They were so impressed by the taste and quality of the apples. Deepak said, “These apples tasted unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I felt like people down there in the country were missing this freshness. That's when we decided to start Thiya”.

Thiya-The Himalayan Farm is a young, growing company that connects farmers and self-help groups from Himachal Pradesh with people all across India. They make sure that the natural products reach customers' homes in a fresh state, and farmers receive fair compensation for their hard work.

Thiya-the himalayan farm, Swipe for Startup

Building Thiya wasn't easy for Deepak and Hemanth. One big challenge they faced was making sure their products arrived fresh and on time. Unlike packaged goods, their products had a short shelf life and were sensitive, which made delivering on time and meeting delivery conditions crucial. They worked hard to improve their delivery network and packaging, ensuring that their products reached customers without any spoilage.

Another challenge they faced was the seasonal nature of apples. Apples are only available for a few months every year. If there are any uncertainties, like heavy rains during the harvest period. It becomes difficult to harvest the apples or deliver them.

But despite these challenges, Thiya: Himalayan Farm is reaping the rewards of bringing fresh produce to consumers across the country. The company has seen a growing demand for its products, and it has been able to connect with many farmers and self help groups. Founded in 2022, they harvested their first batch of apples by September 8, 2022, and successfully delivered their inaugural order on September 13th. Within a span of four days, all other orders were fulfilled. Recently, DPIIT recognized their commitment to innovation and growth in the agricultural sector.

When asked about how Swipe helped him in his startup journey, Deepak’s reply was, “I have been using Swipe for a long time. When it comes to managing my finances, I must say that Swipe has made the process very easy, especially with invoicing.”

Swipe is proud to be part of Thiya’s journey. As they continue their journey, bringing the delightful flavors of Himachal Pradesh to homes throughout the country. Swipe will continue to support them
