Meet Siddharthan, who quits ITC to run an Agritech Startup, Sudhantira.

We are often disconnected from the origins of our food. Most of the time, we are unaware of the food we are eating, where and how it is being grown. This inspired Sidharthan and Ramnath, two agricultural graduates who embarked on a journey to fill this gap between farmers and consumers. Their vision gave birth to Sudhantira, a startup aimed at providing socio economic benefits to farmers and unadulterated fresh food to consumers.

Siddharthan and Ramnath, as farmers themselves, recognized the need to address the challenges faced by the farming community. It was during this time that they decided to create a startup that would connect farmers directly with consumers. Their unique selling proposition lies in their "farm to home" approach. At Sudhantira, farmers produce agricultural products based on consumer preferences and deliver them using a third party delivery service directly to consumers.

Sudhantira began its journey as a bootstrapped startup, relying on personal funds, support from college alumni, and loans. The founders decided to scale slowly to preserve this sensitive relationship between farmers and consumers. So they always ensured that the farmers and consumers operated within their independent and trusted bubbles.

As with every startup, Sudhantira also faced many challenges. One of the major challenge was educating farmers about new methods and breaking their traditional selling practices of selling to middlemen and vendors, unaware of consumer preferences. To overcome this hurdle, Sudhantira communicated the value that farmers produce to end consumers,  By emphasizing consumer appreciation. They lead farmers to the adoption of new methods.

Sudhantira, Swipe for startups, farming

The consistent effort of Sidharthan and Ramnath is paying off. Right now, this Trichy based startup has a loyal customer base all over India. Sudhantira currently collaborates with 500 farmers and aims to expand this network to include 1500 farmers. The founders are also planning to diversify their product line by including value-added products. Additionally, Sudhantira has an ongoing research and development department that focuses on improving farming techniques through trials conducted on their farms.

When asked about how Swipe has helped in their journey, Sidharthan happily replied “Since April, I have been using Swipe. After exploring various options, I came across Swipe, through a startup in Coimbatore. As a startup myself, I felt that Swipe truly understood the needs of startups like mine. The software stood out to me with its affordability, flexibility across devices, and its simplified point-of-sale process. “

Sudhantira is impacting the agricultural supply chain of our country and building new and healthy standards of food production and consumption. Swipe is proud to be part of their incredible journey. As Sudhantira continues to create a conscious future for agriculture one step at a time.
