4. A medium-sized business is one with a sales under $250 billion and an expenditure in machinery, equipment, and plant which does not surpass Rs 50 crore.

Every business must sign up online at the Udyam Registration Portal in order to receive a "Udyam Registration Certificate."

To achieve the Sustainability, micro, small, and medium-sized businesses are essential, especially in fostering innovation, creativity, and meaningful work for everybody.

The Sustainable Development Goals must be implemented in a way that increases access to credit for SMEs in vital national economic sectors (SDGs). The improvement of SMEs' exposure to banking services is called for in SDG objectives 8.3 and 9.3. SDG 8 (good work and economic growth) and SDG 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure) implementation also heavily relies on SMEs.

Global MSME Day in 2022: History

The International Council for Small Business first noticed the necessity for acknowledgment of Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises during the 2016 World Conference since they were playing a significant role in global development (ICSB). The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted to commemorate International MSME Day in its 74th Plenary on April 6, 2017, as it recognised that MSMEs can make a significant contribution to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Afterward, the United Nations decided to recognise June 27 as International MSME Day.

The purpose of International MSME Day is to educate the public about Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises. MSMEs are thought to be responsible for 70% of jobs since they produce content for the unemployed. MSMEs are ranked second in the sector that creates jobs. The existence of millions of families depends on Micro-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. On June 27, 2022, MSME celebrated its fifth anniversary.
