When a business cancels its GST registration, it is required to file GSTR-10 (Final Return) to capture outstanding liabilities and deactivate the GST account. What is GSTR-10

Who should file GSTR-10

Step-by-Step Guide to File GSTR-10 Online

Step 1 - Sign in

Go to the official GST portal.
Log in to your account using your valid username and password.
Check that your account is active and related to the GSTIN you are cancelling.

Step 2 - Go to GSTR-10

Once logged in, go to the menu at the top of the page and select “Services > Returns > Final Return”.
This page is only for taxpayers who are filing their final GST return for cancellation.

Step 3 - Fill out all the required details

The GSTR-10 form will open showing your GSTIN, legal name, and trade name.
Enter the Application Reference Number (ARN) from your cancellation application.
Fill in the effective date of cancellation and details of the order from the GST officer.
Fill in the stock details — inputs, semi-finished goods and finished goods — with the correct value and applicable tax rates.
