2026 Union Budget Live Updates: As announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 1st February 2026, the new 2026 Union Budget updates has included a significant new program known as Bio Pharma Shakti — the development of India's capacity to manufacture and innovate biopharmaceuticals. Current Biopharmaceutical research institutes that exist will have their scope changed to emphasize high-technology/biotechnology production as a way to enhance the overall R&D capability for India.

Creation of a network of 1,000 accredited clinical trial sites.
Increased ability to perform clinical trials in India while also complying with global regulatory requirements.

Quality, safety, and global competitiveness depend heavily on having a robust regulatory authority.
