Understanding The Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana

The Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) programme was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to give seniors who fall under the BPL category with mobility aids and aided equipment.

The RVY was established on April 1, 2017, with the goal of providing physical assistance and aided gadgets to senior adults in the BPL category who have age-related impairments or illnesses in order to recover almost normal physiological functioning and get over their ailment or infirmity.

The RVY's aim is to help the elderly and underprivileged members of society who are having trouble walking as they become older. The Central Government provides all of the funding for the RVY, a Central Sector Scheme.

The "Senior Citizens' Welfare Fund" will be applied to cover the costs associated with implementing the RVY system. The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) underneath the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is the primary implementing agency for the RVY programme.

What are the features of RVY?

The scheme is used for the people who are not able to access the technological needs. So to assess and provide them with all the needed here are some features related to it:

1. All beneficiaries receive the physical assistance, tools, or assisted-living aids free of charge.

2. If an individual has multiple disabilities, the beneficiary will receive multiple devices.

3. For a full year, the ALIMCO offers no-cost maintenance on all medical and assisted-living equipment.

4. The district collector or deputy commissioner will serve as the chair of the panel that the state legislature or UT Administration would use to determine the beneficiaries in each district.

5. Every municipality's recipients will include at least 30% women.

6. Camps will be used to redistribute the equipment.

7. Each beneficiary household will receive a specific number of devices based on the amount of beneficiaries in the household.

8. The aids and equipment can only be given when the doctor has examined and confirmed them with some disabilities.

Who all can be eligible under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojna?

The RVY plan provides assisted living equipment to people who meet all the requirements listed below:

1. Senior people, or those who are above 60.

2. being a member of the BPL group.

3. having a pension or income less than Rs. 15,000 per month.

4. having an age-related impairment or handicap, such as poor vision, tooth loss, loss of hearing, or a neurological disability.

 

What devices/equipment can be provided under RVY?

The following assistive living equipment is made available to recipients of the RVY Scheme:

1. walking canes

2. crutches or a walker.

3. Knee crutches.

4. Quad Pods or tripods.

5. synthetic dentures.

6. Wheelchairs.

7. hearing devices.

8. Spectacles.

Knowing the registration procedure for Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojna

The following procedure can be used by those who qualify to apply online for equipment or devices for assisted living:

1. Install the "ALIMCO Mitra" smartphone application.

2. Click the "New Registration" button after launching the "ALIMCO Mitra" application.

3. You'll see the signup form. Click the "Register" button after entering the required information, including your name, father's name, Aadhaar card number, mobile phone number, region, area, passcode, and complete address.

4. To finish your registration for RVY, submit the necessary documents, enter the captcha code, and then click the "Submit" button.

 

What are the documents needed for RVY?

The following are the documents needed to prove and get your aided tools under RVY

1. Aadhaar or identity documentation such as a passport, driver's license, or voter ID.

2. A district authorization certificate, a BPL ration card, or documentation proving receipt of an old-age retirement underneath the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) or another pension programme provided by the state or UT to elderly people who fall under the BPL category are all acceptable forms of evidence of BPL status.

3. a certification from the medical director attesting to any hearing problem, eyesight loss, tooth loss, or neurological handicap necessitating wheelchair use.

Understanding the implementation of the scheme

The identified applicants on the "ALIMCO Mitra" software are where the qualified recipients underneath this program are chosen. Through the evaluation camps planned in conjunction with the local authority or public authority, the ALIMCO determines beneficiaries.

The distribution of assisted-living gadgets to the designated beneficiaries occurs in the form of distribution camps set up in the chosen districts. Seniors 80 years old or older receive assisted-living equipment delivered to their homes.

So, overall this is how the scheme can be implemented and known. This is the basic working of the scheme which has been benefiting a lot of senior citizens.
