New Functionalities for Taxpayers on GST Portal in January 2022

As an AI language model, I do not have access to real-time news or updates. However, I can provide you with the information on the new functionalities that were introduced on the GST portal in the recent past.

In December 2021, the GST portal had announced the following new functionalities for taxpayers, which might have been implemented in January 2022:

1. GSTR-3B auto-population:

The GSTR-3B return is now auto-populated with data from GSTR-1, GSTR-5, GSTR-6, and GSTR-7. Taxpayers can review and modify the details before filing the return.

2.Rule 86B functionality:

The portal has introduced a new functionality under Rule 86B of the CGST Rules, which restricts input tax credit utilization. Taxpayers can now file an application for the restriction or revocation of the restriction of ITC utilization.

3. Integration of ICEGATE:

The GST portal has integrated with the ICEGATE portal, which is a platform for electronic filing and processing of customs documents. This integration will enable taxpayers to view and download customs-related documents from the GST portal.

4. Annual return filing:

The GST portal has simplified the process of filing the annual return by introducing a step-by-step process for taxpayers. The portal has also provided various additional functionalities to assist taxpayers in filing their annual returns.

5. Auto-population of ITC details:

The GST portal now auto-populates the ITC details of taxpayers, based on the GSTR-2B and GSTR-3B returns filed by their suppliers. Taxpayers can review and modify the details before filing their returns.

6. Aadhaar authentication:

The GST portal now allows taxpayers to authenticate their Aadhaar details, which can simplify the registration process and reduce the time taken to complete it.

7. Search Taxpayer:

The "Search Taxpayer" functionality enables taxpayers to search for GSTIN details of any registered taxpayer by entering their name or PAN.

8. IFF for QRMP taxpayers:

The Invoice Furnishing Facility (IFF) is now available for Quarterly Return Monthly Payment (QRMP) taxpayers. This functionality enables QRMP taxpayers to file their monthly invoices before the end of the quarter.

9. QR code on e-invoices:

The GST portal has introduced a QR code on e-invoices, which can be used to verify the authenticity of the e-invoice.

10. E-invoicing:

E-invoicing has been made mandatory for businesses with an annual turnover of Rs. 50 crore or more. The GST portal has introduced an e-invoicing system that enables businesses to generate and upload e-invoices directly on the portal.

These are some of the new functionalities that have been introduced on the GST portal recently. However, it is recommended that you check the GST portal for the latest updates and functionalities.
