  3. Click on the ‘New Registration’ button.
  4. Select the ‘Taxpayer’ option and fill in the required details such as Name, PAN, Email ID, Mobile number, etc.
  5. Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
  6. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number and email ID. Enter the OTP and click on ‘Proceed’.
  7. Enter the details of the business such as nature of business, type of registration, etc.
  8. Upload the required documents such as PAN, Aadhar Card, etc.
  9. Click on ‘Submit’.

Once the application is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement number. You can track the status of your application using this number.

Penalty for not obtaining GST Registration

Businesses that are required to obtain GST registration but fail to do so can face hefty penalties and fines. The penalty for not obtaining GST registration can be up to 10% of the tax amount due or Rs. 10,000, whichever is higher.

Moreover, businesses that are registered under GST but fail to file their GST returns on time can also face penalties and fines. The penalty for late filing of GST returns is Rs. 50 per day (Rs. 20 for nil returns) for GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-4. The penalty for late filing of GSTR-5, GSTR-5A, GSTR-6, GSTR-7 and GSTR-8 is Rs. 50 per day.
