Composition Taxpayer: They are small taxpayers with a turnover of up to ₹1.5 crore annually.
Taxable Person as Non-Resident: In cases of foreign companies providing short-term services in India. Also needs a deposit and is good for 90 days like the

Procedure for Registration Under GST

The GST registration process is fully online and can be completed through the GST Portal. Following is the step-by-step guide on how to complete the GST registration:

Visit the GST Portal: Then click on “Register Now” given below the Taxpayers (Normal) Tab.

Generate TRN: Select “New Registration” and enter your PAN, email ID, phone number, etc. to generate a Temporary Reference Number (TRN). As soon as you submit, you will get an OTP to verify.

Upon validation, a 15-digit TRN will be provided.

Login with TRN: Login with TRN is to access your application with your TRN. Provide the TRN, fill the space with the data written on the CAPTCHA, and enter the one-time password delivered on the phone/email you registered with.

Fill in Part-B of the Registration: Here you will fill in your information like:

Business Details (including the Trade name, Constitution of business, PAN, etc.)
Information about Promoters or Partners (Number of Owners or Partners and identity proofs of Owners)
Contact Person (Details and documents if different from the owner)
Address proof of principal place of business and photographs
Other Business Locations (If Relevant)
Goods and Services (HSN code for goods or SAC code for services)
Bank account details (with supporting documents)

Upload Documents: Here you have to upload appropriate documents according to the GST registration documents list, identity proofs, address proof, business registration proof, and bank account details.
Document Verification and Submission: Verify your documents post-uploading and check for your application. Apply with EVC through the e-sign method or DSC, if applicable.
Application status and approval: Once your application is submitted, it typically takes 3-7 working days to process your application. You will be notified of the application status via email or SMS on the GST portal. GST Identification Number (GSTIN) is issued once the application is approved.

GST Registration Documents List

To speed up the registration process, you should collect the following documents in advance. Having these on hand will help expedite a smoother application process:

1. PAN Card of the business or applicant

2. The Aadhar Card of the applicant

3. Proof of Business Registration (e.g., Partnership Deed, Certificate of Incorporation for private limited companies)

4. Identity and Address Proof of Promoters/Partners

5. Address Proof of Principal Place of Business (e.g., electricity bill, property tax receipt)

6. Bank Account Proof (scanned copy of the first page of the passbook or bank statement)

7. Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for companies or LLPs

GST Registration for Private Limited Companies

In the case of registering the Private Limited Company, the same process will be continued as described above along with the additional precaution of correctly mentioning the Certificate of Incorporation and Board Resolution to authorize the signatory for GST filing purposes. As per the GST portal guidelines, Private Limited Entities have to submit it using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
